5FM ON FIRE FOR GAY PRIDE 2007

Preparations are blazing ahead for the 5FM Fireman’s Ball (an exclusive Flexbender event), the only Pride 2007 afterparty worth getting out of the closet for! In a first for the local gay community, the event is set to ignite the night following Joburg Pride on Saturday, October 6 but also travels to Cape Town on Saturday, October 13.

5FM DJs Roger Goode, Nicole Fox, Elana Afrika, Mlu, Erica Elle and Christina Knight are teaming up with DJ icons Stuart H, Kevin Grenfell, Shaun Duvet, Amanda, Small Paul and Groove Element to deliver the goods when it comes to the hottest beats this side of dancefloor nirvana.

“We’ve always loved getting involved in Pride events – they are vibrant and fun, and have become favourites with our listeners. The 5FM Fireman’s Ball is bigger and better – of course we jumped at the chance to be the official media partner!” says Helen Graham, 5FM Station Manager.

The parties will be produced by the legendary Qc Productions, well-known for their upmarket, stylish & totally “must be seen at” monthly parties in Joburg (which has now also been extended to Cape Town). Brace yourself for fireboys & firegirls, eyeboggling laser displays, water curtains, decorations to enthuse all Qc citizens and much, much more (than you could ever wish for). This will be a party to chapter in your memoirs!

Says Sipho Mdluli, Flexbender Marketing Manager: “The 5FM Fireman's Ball is an exclusive Flexbender event and signals the biggest single sponsorship of a gay community event to date. The gay audience played a very big role in the development of the Flexbender brand and we are proud of supporting this year's Pride afterparty by giving something back to the community. Flexbender is a sexy version of classic Bourbon with a twist of Citrus. It has given birth to many exciting cocktails such as our LV and Wedgie shooters (enjoy as a cold shooter with slice of orange and sugar)... Look out for these and many more surprises waiting to be discovered at the special Flexbender bars being created for the parties.”

Look out for the 5FM DJs travelling with the fireboys and firegirls on the Fireman’s Truck in the actual Pride parade during the day on October 6. The party already starts there!

“We are pulling out all the stops to present one of the most groundbreaking parties ever in terms of sponsorship, production, music quality and Qc style as never seen before! Qc has become synonymous with exclusive, discerning monthly word-of-mouth parties for an upmarket gay audience. With the help of our generous sponsors 5FM and Flexbender, Fireman’s Ball is taking us to the next level with an event that is going to blow all expectations! ” says Qc’s Pieter Rossouw.
